Had a fine day birding around the north part of the county yesterday. The
weather was fabulous with highs nearly 80.

Especially encouraging was the number of endemic shrub-steppe birds seen.
At least 5 Sage Sparrows at two locations, Lake Lenore & Dry Coulee.
Several Sage Thrashers were also seen singing and one at Lake Lenore was in
a location where I've not seen them before. Vesper Sparrows were also
apparent in both places. Nine Loggerhead Shrikes may be the highest one day
count I've had in the upper coulee area and I really didn't stop or hit some
of the places where they are normally located.

Two Eurasian Wigeons, one at Brook Lake and one on Crab Creek were nice day
birds. Also at Brook Lake were 84 pelicans.

White-throated Swifts have returned en masse, and I must have seen hundreds
as they wheeled and called overhead at nearly every stop.

All in all a nice day.
