Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 22. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On April 18 a MANX-TYPE SHEARWATER was off Boiler Bay. A bright male COSTA?S
HUMMINGBIRD was seen April 17 at Shevlin Park near Bend.

Spring migration is now in full swing with new birds arriving daily. During
the week WESTERN KINGBIRDS were moving on both sides of the Cascades. There
were several WESTERN TANAGER reports. Quite a few lowland TOWNSEND?S
SOLITAIRES were in the lowlands.

On April 21 a MOCKINGBIRD was in North Bend. Two SOLITARY SANDPIPERS were
seen April 20 near the Scappoose Airport. On April 15 a very early
SWAINSON?S THRUSH was in Portland?s Forest Park. A male RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER
was reported April 18 in Portland?s Audubon Sanctuary. On April 18 a
BONAPARTE?S GULL was on the Willamette River in Lake Oswego.

On April 20 a BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was at Philomath. CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRDS
were seen April 19 in Peoria southeast of Corvallis and in Eugene. A light
phased SWAINSON?S HAWK was over Eugene April 15. On April 19 an AVOCET was
just south of Fern Ridge Reservoir. The next day two BLACK-NECKED STILTS
were in the same area. On April 20 two LAZULI BUNTINGS and a male BULLOCK?S
ORIOLE were near Grants Pass.

On April 16 a WHITE-FACED IBIS and a BLACK-NECKED STINT were at Houston Lake
near Powell Butte. On April 18 male EURASIAN WIGEON were at the Redmond
Sewage Ponds and at Hatfield Lake near Bend.
