Hey tweets, spring migration arrived yesterday at the Fill in the form
of shorebirds. At last! There were five Least Sandpipers and one
Western feeding in the delightful mud that Kern Ewing's restoration
ecology kids created on the southeast side of Main Pond. Over on the
west side were two Dunlins. All were in pristine breeding plumage,
lookin' good. Also on view yesterday: Cliff Swallows in numbers, along
with Violet-greens and the occasional Northern Rough-winged. Orange-
crowned Warblers were everywhere. And I didn't have to put on five
layers of clothing to see them. Wow. - Connie, Seattle
