Subject: [Tweeters] Vashon Island Eurasian Collared-Dove

I received a call today from a farm along the highway north of Vashon town this afternoon about a Eurasian Collared-Dove visiting to poach chicken scratch. Sure enough when I arrived to check it out we heard it calling and then it flew down providing a close look. This is Vashon Island's first definite record.

We have a good population of breeding Band-tailed Pigeon with some staying much of the winter depending on the madrone crop. Mourning Doves unpredictably pop up all over the Island in any given month but at no regular location and always single birds. We haven't had any nesting in probably decades.
