Hi Tweets...I actually got away from the computer for a while today
(shorebird festival work) and took my dog to the beach for a romp while I
watched a single dowitcher working the wet sand...I don't think I have seen
just one before.

I then drove out to the marina overlook, where the boat launch is, and saw a
group of birders...Seattle Audubon I was told...then as I drove past the
overflow from the canal next to the Discovery Inn I saw a Green Heron fly
across the road toward the outflow in the secondary marina area.

I was able to re-locate it hunkered down on a cross-bar under the south side
of the old boardwalk. It stayed there for approximately 20 minutes, and
while my attention was diverted by six Least Sandpipers working the mud
below me, the heron took off. It made a nice fly-by just as I was telling
another birding acquaintance about it...and she got to see it.

It was a good day to be out birding!
