I didn't make it to check on CHIPPING SPARROWS at Joint-Base Lewis-McChord
the other day, but no matter: one turned up in our yard this morning. For
the day, we had the following sparrows: Spotted Towhee; Chipping, Savannah,
Song, Lincoln's (saw for first time this year yesterday), White-crowned, and
Golden-crowned sparrows; plus Dark-eyed Juncos. Fox Sparrows definitely gone
(darn - can seemingly never get them to overlap with Savannah and
Chipping!). Still, eight is good.



Soras seem to be ultra-plentiful in the wetland thus far: had six calling
yesterday evening.



Although we've had a couple of Barn Swallows around, they are simply not as
plentiful as previous years at this time. Trying to figure this one out.
Paucity at other places in western WA for the time of year?
