I was down at 204th St and 212th St in Kent this morning, Sun, Apr 25. The ponds on both sides of 204th St had Greater Yellowlegs, about 10 total, and there was 1 Lesser Yellowlegs in the south pond. The juv Trumpeter Swan was in some tall grass in a field near the weird cattle which is between 204th and 212th. As I drove over to the corner of S 204th and Frager Rd by the Green River, I heard a gambelii Wht-crowned Sparrow singing. I stopped and watched some bushes in that area, and several kinds of sparrows perched up. At one point I observed 9 White-crowns on one bush. There were both pugetensis and gambelii races, and they were both singing their songs that sound different from each other. Wow. I got to try to tell the two races apart for a change, as I rarely get to see gambeliis down here, even in winter. Just pugetensis. Then as I watched the Wht-crowns in the blackberries, a Lincoln's Sparrow and a late Golden-crowned Sparrow perched up, and there was a Savannah Sparrow also. Savannahs were singing in a lot of the areas down there.
Over in the mitigated pond on 212th there was a pair of Cinnamon Teal, along w/ a N. Shoveler, and some Grn-winged Teal, Gadwall, Amer. Wigeon, and a couple of Mallards.
