A note on the Nisqually GH Owls--David and I were there on Sun. 4/25 and were told by a volunteer the owls hadn't been seen for over a week. However, when we were on the loop trail returning from the barns, we spotted an adult with the two fledglings on the river side of the trail. They were well back in the "second layer" of trees from the trail at about the halfway point of the boardwalk, sitting quietly. We pointed them out to several people and later told the volunteer, who had missed them while walking on the boardwalk while searching the side back towards the refuge buildings.
When we returned after lunch they were still there, along with a new crowd--the word had apparently been passed!
