Hi Tweets....First there were the Vaux's Swifts over the GH NWR
headquarters...seen by the whole Tokeland/Grayland/Westport field trip
folks...then Bob Stallcop and David Richardson found a female Tufted Duck on
the STP across from the refuge headquarters...you may recall David found one
last year in the same spot.

When I left at 5PM, Tim O'Brien was just beginning to write up his bird
list, so I don't know the results, but he was pleased, and the Ocean Shores
field trip had not yet returned but I spoke with a friend who was on that
one and they saw the female King Eider, a Harlequin Duck, and the newly
arrived Green Heron, but not the Bar-tailed Godwit I saw on Tues the 27th.
They had a great time.

I also spoke with a few people who had spent time out on the Sandpiper
Trail; one woman was talking about the great numbers of shorebirds out on
Mini-Moon Island...."like a carpet of brown movement."

We still have two days to go, and many more birds to see, and I will post
again Saturday.
Also, for anyone interested, the Saturday Westport trip was
cancelled...Coastal Raptors field trip is full, Lake Quinault has two
openings, Ocean Shores is still available, and so is Point Grenville, and
the Sunday Westport field trip is wide open.
