I am back on the westside for a few days to help with the Grays Harbor Shorebird Festival. Yesterday, I spent all day out and about in GH county with Jeff Jendro and Alan Richards. Today, I helped lead the Westport/Tokeland field trip with Bruce Labar and Alan Richards. Lots of good birds to report so I'll be brief:

Elma / Satsop Foothills on Thursday, April 29:

Ruffed Grouse, Sooty Grouse, MacGillivray's Warbler

Ocosta Third Street pond today:

Blue-winged Teal and Cinnamon Teal

Bill's Spit on Thursday:

Marbled Godwit, Black-bellied Plover, Short-billed Dowitcher, Greater Yellowlegs, 4 RED KNOT, Western and Least Sandpiper, Dunlin

Bottle Beach today:

1 RED KNOT, 1 Long-billed Dowitcher plus the usual other shorebirds

Tokeland Marina - both days:

Marbled Godwit, Willet, Whimbrel, Ruddy Turnstone, Wandering Tattler (today only) and other usual shorebirds, Herring Gull (today only)

Westport Jetty - both days:

Surfbird, Black Turnstone, Glaucous Gull

Downtown Hoquiam, 8th and Levee - Thursday:

Purple Martin (one on a wire)

Both days had multiple flocks of Cackling Geese with a few scattered Greater White-fronted Geese in with them moving north.

Come on out - the shorebirds are waiting! Good birding!
