A number of years ago, I noticed that the urban Glaucous-winged Gulls (GWGU)
in Vancouver BC fledged about three to four weeks later than GWGU's in wild
colonies in Georgia Strait and about three weeks to a month later than
interior-nesting gulls (California, Ring-billed, Herring, Bonaparte's &etc.)

I'm still not sure how to explain the delayed fledging by the urban GW's
here. Is there something simple I'm missing?

BTW, there were fledged juv GW's in False Creek about July 25 this year, a
week or so early. So a July coastal drought may accelerate urban GW fledging
dates in Vancouver BC. What other factors may be in play here?
