While hiking up Cedar Butte this morning I heard a loon tremolo call from a
bird flying low above the treetops about a half mile east of Rattlesnake
Lake, S of North Bend. The bird flew close enough overhead that I could hear
its wingbeats but I only caught a passing glimpse of it through the
treetops. I assume it was a common loon.
