A nice surprise at feeder today - a black headed male grosbeak. Chowed down for quite awhile and then returned. Was wondering if it might be a rose headed, but the bill was bi-colored...looked like a large white crowned sparrow (sort of). Hadn't had anything new in the yard for awhile. Then a hairy (hoary?) woodpecker showed up for an evening bath.

Thought I heard a new bird this am - so not sure if it was the grosbeak.

Molly the owl is due to have first owlet today. NBC will air a story about the Owl from San Marcos Ca tomorrow at 6pm. She's famous!
