Almost had a new yard bird today as we were heading home from errands as a Northern Harrier flew overhead a few blocks from our home in Renton at about 11:00. Interesting to pull out Opperman's "Birders Guide to Washington" and see that the abundance chart goes from uncommon to fairly common right smack in the middle of August. Watched for a while from my deck, but didn't relocate the bird - guess the 'burbs don't offer much for a Harrier. It was headed North.
