I went to the Sportsco Ponds at about 3;00 pm today and saw most of what
Ryan and Tom reported. I think both of them did not mention, that the most
common shorebird there are KILLDEERS. I tried very hard to turn one of them
into a Semipalmated Plover - without success! I thought I had the Pectoral
Sandpiper resting with the head tucked under in vegetation, but could not
get a good luck at it, even at 60X. When I tried to relocate it, it was
gone. In addition to the previously mentioned shorebirds, I had at least one
SPOTTED SANDPIPER. There also is a flock of CANADA GEESE there, a few
MALLARDS, one GADWALL and a lot of AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES in the thistles on
the dirt piles on both sides of the ponds.

If you do go - Sportsco has major sidewalk sale going on and parking is at a
prime. Also do watch the traffic. It is a very busy road and I had two
idiots honking at the guy looking through his scope...

Good Birding!
