Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 26. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On August 24 a HUDSONIAN GODWIT was at Pony Slough on Coos Bay.

An offshore boat trip off Tillamook County found a MANX SHEAR WATER, 200
SABINE?S GULLS, 15 ARCTIC TERNS, and two HORNED PUFFINS.

On August 23 over 5000 SANDERLINGS were on the beach north of Reedsport. Two
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were at the Necanicum River mouth August 24. That
day a WHITE PELICAN was with BROWN PELICANS at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River. On August 18, 108 BAIRD?S SANDPIPERS were on Clatsop Beach
north of Seaside.

On August 21 a CATBIRD was at William Clark Park in Washougal. That day a
STILT SANDPIPER and over 200 WHITE PELICANS were at Sturgeon Lake on Sauvie
Island. Two FRANKLIN?S GULLS were at Coon Point on the Island during the
week. A SANDERLING was on the Island August 19. On August 18 up to 30
SOLITARY SANDPIPERS were along the Columbia Slough in North Portland. A
BLACK PHOEBE was at Kelley Point Park in North Portland August 22. A
possible BROAD-TAILED HUMMINGBIRD was in southwest Portland August 20.

BLACK-BACKED and 3-TOED WOODPECKERS and WILLIAMSON?S SAPSUCKERS were found
during the week at a burn on the east side of Mt. Hood at Cooper?s Spur. On
August 18 a LONG-TAILED JAEGER was the mouth of Hood River. An EASTERN
KINGBIRD was there August 22. A female SURF SCOTER was seen August 21 at the
Redmond Sewage Ponds.
