Hans note reminded me that after we saw the Mongolian Plover and its 50 or so friends on Friday at about 3 pm, I went to the nearby seaside beach (Pacific st access) and saw 1000 + Western Sandpipers & Black bellied Plovers along with hundreds of Sanderling + assorted Dunlin & Dowitchers.? No Semi-palmated Plovers at all.? An hour later, the entire giant flock was gone and the beach had nothing but a few Sanderlings.? Only Sanderlings again Sat am.? So do the big flocks just pause a few minutes and head south or is there some other good spot nearby where the 3000+ shorebirds I saw evaporated to?

Just wondering if the Lesser Sandplover was relocated today, Sunday August 29th? I was out at Ocean Shores a couple of weeks ago and saw good numbers of Semipalmated Plovers and Sanderlings on the beach. Since it appears that the Plover is hanging out with its "Semi" cousins, has anybody sorted through them on the beach - Oceanside? Just thinking ....
