Hi All: I've been experimenting with clips of birds that will be used in bird classes to replace or supplement the traditional static images. A recent clip is grebes and scaup diving near the Tramp Harbor Pier on Vashon (http://www.youtube.com/user/PugetSoundMuseum#p/a/u/0/c7RPvSH14fg). It also comes up by googling "PugetSoundMuseum youtube". The video starts with both species of grebes and scaup, then there are many Eared and a few Horned Grebes in the with Greater Scaup, and near the end there are two Lessers swimming with Greaters and grebes. The fluffed butt display (?) by the Eared Grebes in amusing - one does it as another swims by it at 1:16 into the video. If you want more details on id's let me know and I can send ids roughly timed to the video.
There is road noise so mute the sound. The choppy water adds to the id challenge. I'm currently shooting through my Swarovski 80 mm HD scope with a Nikon 5100 (not HD). If anyone knows of a point and shoot with HD video that will attach to a scope, please send me the info.
