Dear Tweeters,

Today (12-05-2010) I made yet another unsuccessful search for a Redhead in Skagit County. However, at Lake Erie, there was an impressive flock of ducks. A fleet of at least 465 COMMON MERGANSERS patrolled the east end of the lake. Hundreds of Double-crested Cormorants and Ring-necked Ducks accompanied them, along with scores of Lesser Scaup, Hooded Merganser, and American Coot. There were also two Ruddy Ducks, a Pied-billed Grebe, and a CANVASBACK. Not one dabbling duck did I see there, interestingly enough.

Another Canvasback was at the Skagit Airport Ponds.

Yours truly,
