Subject: [Tweeters] Ridgefield Swan Correction - Tweeters as a Learning

I earlier posted about seeing many swans at
Ridgefield NWR on Sunday and failing to find a
Tundra swan among what I thought were all
Trumpeters. Oops... As was pointed out to me in
a private email (and very nicely done), the swans
at Ridgefield are predominantly Tundras with the
Trumpeter being the rarity. I had not been able
to "see" any yellow below the eyes of any of the
swans I saw at distance and not with a scope so
despite thinking the head shape and size seemed
right for Tundra I had concluded they were not
such. I only had a couple of fairly decent and
very distant pictures, but when I greatly
magnified them on the computer after the email
guidance, sure enough - some tell tale yellow was
present on at least one. So I stand corrected -
and educated - and appreciative - and also happy
to truly add Tundra Swan to the 2010 list.
