Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday December 9. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On December 7 a pale gray GRYFALCON was seen flying south over Lincoln City.
At Siletz Bay December 3 were 800 HERRING GULLS, 300 THAYER?S GULLS, and 300
large CALIFORNIA GULLS. A late CHIPPING SPARROW was seen December 6 south
of Tillamook.

ANCIENT MURRELETS were close to shore during the week and were seen all
along the coast, especially at Boiler Bay. Flocks of MEADOWLARKS and EVENING
GROSBEAKS are now arriving into Western Oregon.

On December 6 two CINNAMON TEAL and six TRUMPETER SWANS were at Ridgefield
NWR. A PELAGIC CORMORANT was seen December 3 off Lower River Road north of
Vancouver. The Hayden Island waterfowl flocks near the I5 Bridge have
scattered a bit but are still being seen. On December 3 five WHITE-WINGED
SCOTERS were there along with 47 WESTERN GREBES, a CLARK?S GREBE, and four
RED-NECKED GREBES. A winter plumaged BOBOLINK was photographed December 8 at
the end of Rentenaar Road on Sauvie Island.

On December 3 two ACORN WOODPECKERS were seen in Delta Park in North
Portland. Two TRUMPETER SWANS and nine CINNAMON TEAL were along Tonquin Road
east of Sherwood December 5. The wintering REDSTART in Eugene continues to
be seen. On December 5, 18 GREATER YELLOWLEGS and 12,000 DUNLIN were at Fern
Ridge Reservoir. Among the many birds on Dexter Reservoir December 5 were 40
GREATER SCAUP.

Two PACIFIC LOONS, a COMMON LOON, and a male WILLIAMSON?S SAPSUCKER were
seen during the week at Suttle Lake west of Sisters. A SNOW BUNTING was seen
December 5 south of Redmond. A lone SHORT-EARED OWL was at Houston Lake
December 7. On December 5 three RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were at Klamath
Falls.
