Hi Tweets:
After the rains let up this afternoon (we got 3.6" of rain in 48 hrs, most in the last 24 hrs), I went down to 204th St in Kent. The seasonal ponds are huge, but 204th has not flooded (yet). It was pretty quiet there, w/ very few ducks. I crossed over the Green River which was only about 1/2 full (so far), and went to Boeing Ponds. The female PEFA (Peregrine Falcon) was at her usual perch, in the groove of the tall bldg facing the ponds. She left that perch and perched for a bit on a light pole on the blocked-off 62nd Ave.
While I was looking at her, I noticed a couple of Beavers on top of their lodge. Eventually I counted 5 Beavers on top of the lodge! The only other time I saw beavers on that lodge was after a big rain, when the sun came out. Back at that time I saw 3. The time was about 2:30 this afternoon. There was no wind, and the temp was 56 degrees. The water level is coming up pretty high around the lodge, but there is still about 3 feet of the lodge showing above the water.
After a bit, the PEFA flew up to a perch in the groove (always at the top of one of the black vertical stripes). She flew out once to harrass a circling Bald Eagle. Then she flew south and perched on a large bldg just north of the big Boeing red and white radar tower. Finally she flew over to the west, probably to the fields by Frager Rd where there are a number of Canada Geese, other waterfowl, and lots of crows at a stubble field.
