Me too. I had an Orange-crowned Warbler near my apartment door the other day (Dec 11th), as I was locking my door. It flew down to a curb stone just a few yards away and flipped around a bit, then flew off to a small plum tree. The same thing happened a week or so ago, and I assume that it was the same bird. It was basically dull, looking at it from above. What I saw of the underparts was also dull. My old vision didn't discern fine markings about the face, if any. And there were no wing bars. Our local breeders are usually much brighter, so I guessed that this one was a drab Canadian subspecies. I read that this species has a thicker plumage than other Warblers, making it more cold tolerant.

isn't it too cold for this guy to be hanging around in mid-December?

I love sharing the world with birds and people who love birds!
