I had variable but definite luck with "pishing" in the Russian Far East. Several most responsive species were
exactly those Steve mentions. In general, several of the Phylloscopus were responsive, as were Emberiza
buntings; I also recall some humorous encounters with birds like Thick-billed, Gray's, Oriental Reed and others
in Locustella or Acrocephalus that started with "pishing."
