The Arthur Menzies X Mahonia is blooming, but it might be the suet and
especially the suet with dehydrated insects in it. I've regularly had
several Yellow-Rumped Warblers in my garden this winter, and sporadically
Townsends Warblers. There is one actively feeding right now. This is new.
I don't usually see them this much in the garden during winter, but I always
see at least a few Orange Crowned Warblers. OCWAs will, but have not yet
made a winter appearance (when I was looking, at least). Certainly I did the
landscaping with Warblers and Hummingbirds in mind, and it is incredibly fun
that they are here in greater numbers this year. Lincoln Park usually sports
these three Warbler species in winter, but it certainly isn't an every day
sighting. It has been a good year. This is the first year that I have tried
to keep an annual yard list. Most unusual birds for the year were
McGillivray's Warbler and Scrub Jay. Still looking up. How about that Lunar
Corona last night?

Happy Holidays, everyone.
