hi all ... our feeder is a PVC post with a "T" bar at the top ...
hanging from that are 2 suets, 1 seed block, and 1 thistle sock ...
last year we just greased (Crisco) the pole and the squirrels
couldn't make it up ... this year the PVC is weathered a bit and the
old Crisco is hardened and dirty and even with new grease the
squirrels made it to the suet ...

score: ... Squirrels - 1, Humans - 0

next we tried using a silicone spray on the pole ... didn't work at all ...

score: ... Squirrels - 2, Humans - 0

next we tried slabbering on the Crisco and then patting pepper powder
into the Crisco (someone at work said squirrels didn't like pepper)
... didn't phase the creatures ...

score: ... Squirrels - 3, Humans - 0

so ........... we obviously needed a squirrel baffle ... here's what
Gene came up with ... and it's WORKING !!!!!!!!!!! ...

so, the current and hopefully FINAL score is: Squirrels -3 and Humans
-1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
