Hi Tweets,

Another enjoyable winter afternoon at Gog Le Hi Te Wetlands while birding
with friends. The highlight for me was a Juvenile Glaucous Gull that
arrived at the southern tidal pound adjacent to 509. A large very pale
white gull with black tipped pink bill, dark yellow iris, white primaries
and tertial crescent with light brown speckling on mantle, sides, and under
tail coverts.

We also had plenty of good looks at Thayer?s Gull, Glaucous-winged x Western
Hybrid Gull, Glaucous-winged Gull, Mew Gull and two Herring Gull. Two Bald
Eagles and the resident Red-tailed Hawk greeted us at the entrance of the
wetlands, a Virginia Rail called from the cattails in the primary pond.

>From the central grassy area, we saw Song Sparrow, Lincoln Sparrow,
Golden-crowned Sparrow, and a Wilson?s Snipe flushed, circled over the river
and landed back in the grass further north.

In the Puyallup River and tidal pond south adjacent to 509 we also saw
Common Goldeneye, Buffle Head, Mallard, Green-winged Teal and Canada Goose.

Good birding!
