Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday December 23. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On December 17 a family group of four BEWICK?S SWANS were photographed at
Ladd Marsh SWA near LaGrande.

TREE SWALLOWS were seen during the week at Ridgefield NWR, Sauvie Island,
Medford, and Coquille.

On December 17 a MOCKINGBIRD was in Florence. On the December 18 Tillamook
Christmas Count at least 152 species were recorded including a MANX-TYPE
SHEARWATER, 12 RED PHALAROPES, and two HEERMANN?S GULLS, but no pelicans. On
December 18 a BOHEMIAN WAXWING was in Astoria.

The TUFTED DUCK and SURF SCOTERS are still be seen on the Columbia River
near the Portland Airport. A BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD is being reported
coming to a feeder in southwest Portland. A PALM WARBLER is now being seen
at the east end of Reed Canyon in southeast Portland.

A wintering YELLOWTHROAT continues to be seen at the Fernhill Wetlands. On
December 21 a NASHVILLE WARBLER was in Corvallis. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was
west of Corvallis December 20. A female HERMIT WARBLER was in Eugene
December 20.

On the December 18 Bend Count two LONG-TAILED DUCKS, four WESTERN GREBES, 11
CORMORANTS, a MEW GULL, and a HERRING GULL were among the 94 species seen.
An OSPREY was seen December 20 south of Burns Junction in Malheur County.
