On Wednesday, my husband was taking his daily walk on the Sammamish River Trail between Ne 116th and NE 90th. About 100 yds south of the 116th bridge he observed a Great Blue Heron hunting in the brush under poplars. As he and our dog approached, the GBH lifted his head holding a rodent in his beak - perhaps a mole?. The GBH flew off with the rodent still in his beak-yes, there was some protesting by the rodent.
He also observes a falconer with 2 birds of prey and 3 Jack Russel Terriers from time to time along the trail.
Backyard observation: we selected for our backyard birding habitat a Mahonia shrub, Charity hybrid, after Ciscoe Morris touted their winter blooms attacting hummingbirds. It works! Our winter-feeding Anna's Hummingbirds do enjoy the Mahonia.
