Hi Tweeters,

I was able to take a walk around for lunch and saw some interesting birds on UW Campus around Portage Bay/Montlake Cut area. Best bird for me since one hasn't wandered this way before when I've been out and about was a gorgeous male Wood Duck near Agua Verde restaurant.

Along the cut near the Montlake Bridge on the UW side was a Hermit Thrush.

Somebody who is making way more money than I am is feeding the squirrels grandly under the big cedar trees near the emergency entrance to the hospital. We are talking corn kernels, whole peanuts and in the shell sunflower seeds in several substantial piles. An adult tagged Coopers Hawk was taking in the scene intently. Unfortunately I flushed it trying to get a better look at the tag. It has a red tag on the left leg.

There is also a largish flock of Lesser Scaup around, several Common Goldeneye. In the trees near the Montlake Bridge a large flock of about 40 Am. Goldfinch were feeding. I heard a robin and a Ruby-crowned Kinglet sing. A squawking Bewick's Wren was harassed by an Anna's Hummingbird.

I think the temp has already dropped because when it started to drizzle it was half snow, half rain.
