Is this common? Has anyone ever seen anything like this? It was really dramatic to watch. The local guy won as he is back on his favorite perch. Hope the other guy is OK too! By the way, Pepper the cat was indoors just jumping against a glass door, but they must have seen him. Would appreciate any information.

Just witnessed an epic hummingbird fight! These guys went at it for 15 minutes or more - this after an earlier 5 minute one. This time they ended up on the ground together, but by the time I pushed away from the table and stood up, they were up and at it again! A little later, inside the porch, they went down again onto the rug and looked like a wriggling dark ball for about 5 seconds or so, then were up and at it again. I'm amazed that they could expend that level of energy for that long even though, every once in a while, they would each take a separate port for a quick sip - but I mean 1 or 2 seconds. The show came to an end when Pepper spotted them from the living room door and started jumping up at them. Wonder how much longer they could have gone!
