Hi Tweeters,

During yesterday's CBC there were Black-bellied Plovers, Least Sandpipers,
Dunlin, and Long-billed Dowitchers seen on Julia Butler Hansen NWR across
the road from the beach where you see folks camped sometimes. If approaching
from the east along Steamboat Slough Road this is where you first come
beside the Columbia River after following Elochaman Slough from headquaters.
I know shorebirds can be tough in this county. Only the Dunlin were present
in the frozen early morning, with the other species appearing later in the
day. Also present on the refuge were 3 White-tailed Kites, possibly the only
remaining dependable kites in the state.
