I saw a somewhat smaller than a duck bird taking a bath at the beach at Lake
Jeane this morning. Much to my surprise, once I got my binoculars on it, it
turned out to be a MERLIN. It was a brown phase, fairly light bird. After a
lot of splashing and shaking, it hopped up on the beach with a totally
soaked tail. As it took of low over the water, it scared the wits out of a
PIED-BILLED GREBE, prompting it to dive in panic.

Good Birding!
