I continued on today birding Lewis County where I left off from last week. I started at Swofford Pond, then moved on to the east of of Riffe Lake, and finished at Woods Creek.

At Swofford Pond, I still had good numbers of waterfowl.
Pied-billed Grebe - 5
Common Merganser - 62
Lesser Scaup - 2
Ring-necked Duck - 65
Mallard - 4
Gadwall - 6
Double-crested Cormorant - 22
Scrub Jay - 2
Belted Kingfisher - 1

At the east end of Riffle Lake I spent 2 1/2 hours checking the lake from the Kosmos Rd. boat launch, Taidnapum Park and Taidnapum boat launch. I also spent some time walking through the short grasses looking for grassland birds, but found none.
Common Merganser - 5
Hooded Merganser - 5
Common Goldeneye - 1
Common Loon - 1
Horned Grebe - 1
California Gull -1
Bald Eagle - 3
Red-tailed Hawk - 1
Hairy Woodpecker - 1
Wilson's Snipe - 1

At Woods Creek I walked the entire loop trail through the forest and along the marsh. It was mostly quiet until the end when I was surprised, in more ways than one, by flushing 4 RUFFED GROUSE.
Raven - 1
Winter Wren - 7
Bufflehead - 2
Hooded Merganser - 3
Ruffed Grouse - 4
