Hi Tweets,
In response to Bonnie Block and Hans Feddern and for general info (I thought I had posted this yesterday but it is not in my sent file so.. its in cyberspace), I had two Short-eared Owls Sunday afternoon about 4-4:30 p.m.at the end of Eide Road on Camano Island. To get there from I-5 go through Stanwood and over the bridge over the Stillaguamish River and make a U-turn somewhere beyond the bridge. As you are part way up the bridge ramp coming from the west side, turn right on Eide Road which is signed (this is hard to see going west and it could be hair-raising to make the left turn going west as well). Follow the road about a half mile almost to the cement barricades and pull off on the concrete pad on the right and park. Scan the further edges of the extensive marshy field in front of you, especially to the left. I had one Short-eared Owl sitting on a leaning post left side of the center of this area and another flying beyond it. Binos essential and a scope is a big plus. I also had a Rough-Legged Hawk, a couple Harriers and the obligatory Red-tailed Hawk along Eide Road.
Happy birding,
