I thought the eagles had exhausted all the local photo ops locations, but they surprised me today by posing in the marsh. I did not witness their arrival, but I am sure they quickly emptied the marsh of all other waterfowl.?? This is only the second time I have seen an eagle in the marsh from the boardwalk, but I guess they have to drink somewhere.

After a few photos they flew across the marsh, heading northwest.? I was hoping they would land on the pilings between the ferry dock and the marina. I was right, but the deteriorating light caused by passing squalls did not lead to any outstanding photos.?? They have also been seen on the marina breakwater, so I will have to check that out one morning.
??
Prior to seeing the eagles at the marsh, I had been photographing a flock of dunlins?from the fishing pier.? The flock would swarm back anbd forth across the water, land on the marina breakwater for a while, then resume?swarming a short time later.?? Does anyone know why they behave this way??? Normally shooting into the sun is the bane of a bird photographer, but in this case the sunlight shining thorugh their wings and silhouetting their bodies created some?stunning effects.
