I no sooner stepped onto the viewing platform today at the marsh when I saw a familiar silhouette in the sky approaching from the south.? I heard an eagle's cry, looked down, and saw that two adults were already in the marsh.?? The approaching eagle turned out to be a juvenile, which may have been?intimidated by the adults.??It made several circles over the marsh, then landed in a tall tree on the?south side of Pine St.

The adults stayed for a few more minutes, then took off flying directly west.?? Dave, another regular Edmonds bird spotter,?had told me he had seen the eagles several times perched on the marina breakwater between moors G and H. We drove over to the marina and there they were, perched between moors F and G, where I took some more photos of them.

I was hoping for a better view, so we went to the end of the public fishing pier for a look south. I saw the juvenile arrive and perch by an adult.?? A few minutes later I thought I saw a second adult on the breakwater. I was very surprised after I downloaded and cropped the photos at home to find a third adult on the breakwater in additon to the two other adults and the juvie.

While I was hunting, a pelagic cormorant was fishing in the water just below the pier in front of me.?? I got?several shots of it bagging a shrimp.? The water was so clear that during one dive I saw it under water emerging to the surface.
