I just looked out the window and was rather astonished to see a lone Mute Swan on our Long Lake, which is partly in Lacey and partly in unincorporate dThurston County. The swan is headed slowly south along the eastern shore of the lake. I wonder if this could be one of the Mute Swans that has been hanging out around Capitol Lake in downtown Olympia -- I haven't been checking on them, but they weren't in that area last time I was there a few days ago. I believe the general consensus is that these swans are all escapees from somewhere and not a wild population, and this is not a chance to add a new lifer to your list, but it's fun to see anyway.
