Hello Tweeters,
This returned from the WOS Trip to the Okanagon Hihglands and to the
Waterville Plateau today.We had 14 participant who most all added some new
species to there list,especial for birder who making the County list
We parted at the town of Mansfield where my driving and rooming partner
left going home.
As we drove on Highway172 true the town of Withrow ,we spotted a bright
snow white and jet black Snow Bunting.We was both chucked by discover ,that
this bird was a male in full breeding plumage.This is my seventh year,I be
going over to the area for the seventh year,seeing in the thousands Snow
Buntings,but never saw this species in breeding Plumage.We reading when this
birds are breeding and,Sibley listed breeding in March.Do to no snow and the
temperature are so warm,it could be that there coming earlier as usual in to
breeding plumage.
The last day was especial hard birdying driving all day trying to finding
Snow Bunting and the Snowy Owl with no success,But the conciliation where
the many Lapland Longspures on several location.
A big Thank You is going to Tim O"Brian who keeping the tally,since I was
the driver of one of the 4 cars.And for so much patient by all birders to
finding this birds.
I also want to mention as we went to the Snow Park,running in to the group
from Renton Birders ,who was alerting us that there had the Great -Gray
Owl,where some of our group heard this wanted Owl
close by,it certainly was nice of you to let us know,thank you ALL.
