Hi Tweets,

At least two of us who were birding last Saturday at the Magnuson
Park wetlands made inquiry to Seattle Parks Department about the
remote-controlled airplane activity on the ponds. I am happy to
report that I received the following response from the
Superintendent's office. Any birders who witness such activity again
should feel comfortable getting as much information as possible and
reporting it to Seattle Parks. Signage is on its way.

Dear Ms. Riddell,

Thanks for contacting us about signage at the Magnuson wetlands to
try to prevent inappropriate behavior like the model airplane use you
saw this weekend.

It's illegal, by the way, to operate motorized model aircraft or
motorized model watercraft in any park unless special permission has
been granted by the Superintendent. (And permission certainly would
not be granted for Magnuson Park.)

As for signage, we're working on that now. The wetlands project
manager reports that we are currently waiting to get from the Army
Corps of Engineers the official language used for wetlands signage.
When we receive that, we'll get the signs created and installed.

Thank you again for contacting us.

Sincerely,
Laurie Dunlap
