Don't know if any of you are planning to pass through TX anytime soon, but if so this is a very good time to visit the lower Valley. I was got bumped from a Continental Flight in Houston en route home to Seattle last Friday (oh darn) and turned it into a weekend stayover down there. I relocated the Amazon Kingfisher Saturday (first one north of the border, Laredo, Jan 24-Feb 3) and also one of the 2-3 Roadside Hawks (at Falcon Dam SP). Elsewhere there is a Blue Bunting and Aztec Thrush in last days, a few Clay-colored Thrush around, and a Bare-throated Tiger-Heron (Bare-throated Tiger-Bittern?) earlier this year, among other goodies. Consult the Texas site on birdingonthe.net if you go, there's a wealth of real-time info there, the birding is terrific.
