Hi Tweets,

What a fabulous day. I arrived at the Fill around 8:00 am and it was pretty slow until I saw Connie Sidles and she was frantically waving me over to the Hoyt's Meadow area (just south of the Southwest Pond). She spotted the first Swallows of the season at the Fill they were a pair of Tree Swallows. She and I were pretty excited SPRING IS HERE!. To add an exclamation to that a few minutes after the Swallows were spotted the Meadowlarks started singing. That was the beginning to an outstanding day that already started out pretty good with blue skies and sun. In addition to the Swallows the Hummingbirds were Humming, the Red-winged Blackbirds were belting out their beautiful song, Sparrows were chipping and singing, Wrens were scolding. It was a real symphony. Other birds of note at the Fill was an immature Snow Goose flyover in a small flock of Cackling Geese. It looked pretty odd to see this white goose among the darker Cackling Geese. A pair of Cedar Waxwings were fly catching over the Southwest Pond.

At Magnuson Park there was a single female Canvasback Duck, numerous Ring-necked Ducks, Lesser (I think) Scaups, Common Mergansers and a fly over by a Bald Eagle that scattered everyone. I must say when I saw the photo of the Bald Eagle I thought I discovered a new species. Look at the photo and you'll see why.
