During all of this nice weather, I have been enjoying skate skiing along the
Iron Horse Trail from the Hyak Sno-park past the Crystal Springs Sno-park
and back. Friday I saw Pine Siskins, Chickadees, Stellar's Jays, Ravens,
Nuthatches, and Brown Creepers. Today (Sunday), I had the same cast of
characters, with the addition of Varied Thrushes calling from the woods. I
heard them from at least 6 different spots along the trail, particularly at
the east end of Lake Keechelus.
