I was enjoying a wonderful hike and sunset in Hilltop Park in Mount Vernon and there was a little bundle perched high in a tree that was no more than 30 yards away from the overlook.? Thankfully I had my binoculars??to positively ID the little wonder as a Northern Pygmy Owl; its yellow eyes ablaze with the sunset and the beautiful tail was distinct as it sat watching everything with interest.?? I watched it as it watched everything for almost 15 minutes before it dove off its lofty perch and disappeared in the dense forest.? I didnt have my camera with me so this little owl taught me to be more prepared as well for it would have been a magnificent picture.

It was a wonderful ending to an incredibly sun filled weekend.??
