Hello, tweets.

I'm just reading Hope for Animals and Their World, by Jane Goodall. She discusses a whole array of endangered species and success stories in "rescuing them from the brink." There are plenty of failures, as well, but she accentuates the positive. For anyone (like me) who's not optimistic about the fate of our little planet as long as Homo sapiens dominates it, it's a good book to read to lift your spirits. It will bring tears to your eyes and a smile to your lips. And it's full of interesting information about the species and the programs, all over the world. Jane has always been one of my heroes.

We saw two immature "Blue" Snow Geese on Feb 20, one on Fir Island, Skagit Co., and the other along Boe Road, Snohomish Co. I have seen adults in the past, but these are the first immatures. They are medium to dark gray, quite distinct in the flocks of white and pale gray birds.
