Hi Paul & Tweets,

I see several Harlequin Ducks at Cattle Point on San Juan Island every few
days (whenever I am there). Cattle Point is past American Camp National
Park on the south tip of the island. The Harlequins are generally within a
few yards of the shore making them easy to photograph. If you are familiar
with this location, I find them most often in two locations: directly below
the lighthouse (follow the trail past the lighthouse down the cliff to the
water), and in a sheltered cove just East of the interpretive center.

If you have access to a kayak or small boat there is also a group of
Harlequins that live near Posie Island State Park (a few hundred yards out
of Roche Harbor). This group is generally between Posie Island and
McCracken Point (the north tip of Henry Island) every time I kayak through
the area all year round.

Happy Near Year!

Hi Tweeters,

Does anyone have advice on the most reliable places to see and photograph
Harlequin Duck at this time of the year?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Happy New Year to All,

Paul
