Hi Tweets,
I had a quality time birding with Ron McCluskey today. Very slow birding but we managed to get almost all our winter targets. Still noticeably absent, CROSSBILLS--not a plume, peep, or poop!
*********Some quick highlights**************************
20 SHARP-TAILED GROUSE near Happy Hill Rd so rest assure:)
2 SNOWY OWLS on the Waterville Plateau. The one I found last week is close to C NE and Bridgeport Hill Rd.
Another one found by Meredith and Richard was relocated by Ron and I on H NE and 15--a very dark immature bird. With so much barring and striking contrasts it looks like a dark raptor with a white face at a distance. STUNNING! We got excellent views from 60 feet away!
12 AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS near Cameron Lake Rd.
500 SNOW BUNTINGS on Okanogan Highlands.
More later................
Good birding,
Khanh Tran (Portland, Oregon)
