New Year's Day in Lahaina on Maui: Woke up to the screeching of Common
Mynas, and the cooing of Spotted and Zebra Doves. Later that day saw a
Red-Crested Cardinal, Japanese White-eye, Golden Plover, House Finch,
English Sparrow, Cardinal, and heard a loud squeaky gate sounding bird that
we couldn't see or identify. Does anyone have a clue what that was? A few
days later, in Hana, we saw White-tailed Tropic Birds and Red-footed Boobies
and a Red-Billed Leiothrix, the best birds of the trip, so far. And I
mustn't forget the ubiquitous Red Jungle Fowl, (chickens).
