Ravenna Park has had some interesting birds lately. I've seen several Red
Breasted Sap Suckers - one was busily drilling holes and drinking from old
ones. Another day, two of them were chasing each other. I watched them for
about 10 minutes as they flew from tree to tree over my head. Ruby Crowned
Kinglets are also present.

On Thursday I walked by the little pond where usually I see a Mallard pair
and to my astonishment, I saw a male Wood Duck. Earlier in December there
was even a Barred Owl. Surprising birds this winter.
