On this topic, I had been meaning to comment on Khanh's dilemma the other week in having dropped his binoculars and having a trip nearly ruined because of it. I found what I think is at least a reasonable short term solution for most of us - Walmart!

I found a pair of Leupold 8X23mm binoculars at the local Walmart in Omak for just under $100. They were very sharp and easy to use in the field. They would certainly be worth picking up as a trip saver if you ever dropped your main pair and had the week-end to look forward to without any.
